I turn fuzzy, high-stakes problems into things you can actually measure. Two decades of it: search-and-rescue robots, the DARPA Robotics Challenge, and now trustworthy AI in critical infrastructure. Bridging the disciplines, and getting to "Yes" responsibly.

Based in Maryland. Originally from Perth, about as far from Washington as you can get and still be on solid ground.

My work advances the safe, responsible, effective, appropriate, ethical, transparent, and defensible adoption of AI, data science, and intelligent systems.

The NIST AI RMF Trustworthy AI in Critical Infrastructure Profile

I lead development of the profile that guides the sixteen critical infrastructure sectors on adopting AI responsibly: deterministic behavior, explainability, graceful degradation, fail-safe operation, and adversarial robustness. Written to be meaningful and technically actionable, not shelf-ware.

Developed in the open, through a Community of Interest. The durable standards are never written alone.
